Planning your diversity and inclusion efforts this year? Our partners, IBM, have some pointers on the key steps your organisations should take to level the playing field for everyone at work.
Extracted from post-covid-outbreak sessions, IBM Institute for Business Value tested the waters on women’s recent workplace experiences and their feelings towards the future.
The result? 58% believing they need to work harder to succeed due to one or more aspects of their identity and nearly 7 in 10 noting they’ve been discriminated against because of their gender.
As IBM puts it: “each barred door can be unlocked—as long as someone in power is willing to turn the key.” To help managers do just that, they recommend the prioritising the following areas:
- Help women maintain work-life balance
- Understand the impact of gender bias
- Empower women of color
- Train men to be allies
- Use technology to reduce discrimination
- Make STEM careers more accessible and inclusive
Whether these pointers act as starting points or another layer of workplace organisations, IBM’s full report uncovers what we can do to keep those doors open. Access the full report and download your copy from their thought leadership library here.
