Mel Hewitson is a professional company director, following a senior executive career in institutional investment management, risk and financial regulation with entities including the Financial Markets Authority, ANZ Bank and AllianceBernstein.
Mel’s current board memberships include Fidelity Life Assurance, Simplicity NZ, Southern Cross Travel Insurance, Greenbridge Capital Management Limited, Domain Name Commission and Housing Foundation. Mel chairs the Nominating Committee for Waikato-Tainui’s Group Investment Committee. She is an Independent Member of the NZ Investment Committee of FINDEX Advice Services NZ Limited.
Mel’s previous governance roles include Chair of the Nominating Committee for Guardians of NZ Super Fund, Independent Director of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Maia Limited, Chair of the Active Investor Plus Advisory Panel for NZ Trade & Enterprise. Trustee of Foundation North and Auckland Foundation.
Mel was honoured as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to governance in 2022. She is a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and holds Climate and ESG Competent Board Designations.
