Dame Jenny Shipley was New Zealand’s first female Prime Minister and today is a Director, Advisor and Keynote Speaker with a special interest in inclusion strategy, the Treaty of Waitangi and bringing it to life in business and the community and mega trends in business, economic and social development opportunities globally.
She is Co-Chair of the Advisory Board for Northland Tourism Destination Management Plan.
She is a Director on the Board of the Asian Davos equivalent, the BOAO Forum for Asia. She is a Director of the International Finance Forum [IFF], China and Co-chairs the Sustainability Committee.
Dame Jenny was Prime Minister of New Zealand. She retired from NZ politics in 2002 and returned to the private sector while still retaining her intense interest in the development of leaders here in NZ and globally. She was instrumental in the establishment of Global Women NZ and Champions for Change. She has and continues to mentor leaders with a current emphasis on emerging Maori women leaders.
Jenny gives her time to a number of causes in Northland where she now lives. She is a member of the Club of Madrid, a group of 120 former Presidents and Prime Ministers and a member of the World Women’s Leaders Council. Both groups work in many countries, promoting democracy, the advancement of women and every aspect of social and economic improvement and progress.
She and Burton established a Namibian Education Trust in 2008 that supports a cluster of schools in Northern Namibia and continues to go from strength to strength.
Jenny has been married to Burton for 50 years and adores being mother of adult children Anna and Ben and Meme to Otis and Flynn, Zara and Coco.
