Andrea Thompson

Managing Director, Catapult

Andrea is Managing Director of Catapult, New Zealand’s leadership performance consultancy. She develops leaders and creates leadership cultures in which people collaborate, adapt and thrive. She believes that leadership is the key lever to growing the wellbeing and performance of New Zealanders.

Andrea’s key focuses through her work are:

Supporting systemic change in health.
She develops leadership and facilitates conversations across multiple stakeholders committed to changing the environments in which people live, learn, work and play (including the government’s Healthy Families NZ initiative, Healthy Auckland Together, and the Public Health Leadership Programme).

Facilitating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Catapult is a member of the Sustainable Business Council and Andrea has partnered with SBC to create the Future Leaders programme for members.

Supporting the creation of leadership cultures in organisations.
She and her team are currently assisting FENZ in the biggest organisational transformation in the last 25 years.

Developing women.
She co-leads Leading Your Career workshop for women professionals with another Global Women member, Miriam Dean.

Nurturing the next generation of leaders.
She ran workshops at the Festival of the Future; an event attracting 1,400 young people in 2017.

She is the co-author of an up-coming book, Leaders Like You – a book of interviews with 24 New Zealand leaders.

Andrea has spoken at TEDx and national conferences:

Andrea is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Adaptive Leadership programme. She has qualifications in neuroscience and positive psychology. Prior to co-founding Catapult, Andrea was a lawyer, management consultant and worked with an international training and development company.
