Amanda Millar has a life-long passion and talent for helping people tell their stories in the media, on film, in corporate boardrooms or on stage. Her career in TV current affairs has earned her more than 16 national awards, including the 2011 AFTA Best Current Affairs Reporter – the third time in a decade that she won that award.
In three decades of television production, Amanda has worked as a reporter, producer and director on award-winning documentaries, current affairs and information programmes, including 60 Minutes, Fair Go, Frontline and 20/20 (she was also the presenter of this show for TV3).
Her latest achievement was producing and directing the feature-length documentary, CELIA after the late Celia Lashlie asked Amanda to make a documentary on the social advocate’s ‘unfinished’ work. The film was the smash hit at 2018’s NZ International Film Festival before it was released on screens throughout the country this year.
Amanda’s also produced and directed more than 30 independent documentaries and was an advisor for former Prime Minister, Jenny Shipley.
Amanda is a public speaker who is an experienced MC, facilitator and panelist.
She has MC’d many conferences and events, including the 2011 World of Wearable Art Awards, has co-hosted the prestigious World Class New Zealand Awards and the Qantas Film & TV Awards.
She now runs her own communications training company with offices in Wellington and Auckland.
