It’s heartening to see that almost a quarter of 16 -17 year olds are anticipating a career in the Tech Sector since the pandemic. The same research, however, is showing that women are finding it harder to secure their tech roles than men.
31% of women — as opposed to 21% of men — have reported struggling to secure their first tech-career role, despite being more likely to be encouraged by teachers and education providers (54%) than men (29%).
“There are so many programmes aimed at getting girls interested in these areas, but we need to go further to challenge and eradicate the old fashioned views that are clearly still very much ingrained in the public consciousness,” says Agata Nowakowska (AVP EMEA, Skillsoft).
