ABOUT THE HUI

The year 2040 will mark 200 years since the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi an important year for Aotearoa New Zealand. It will also be nearly 150 years since women were given the right to vote. New Zealand became the first self-governing country in which all women had the right to vote.

As we look to the future, it is right, we host the 2023 Annual Members Hui at Waitangi, the birthplace of our nation and the place where much of New Zealand’s history was shaped through the signing on the Declaration of Independence – He Whakaputanga in 1835, and the Te Tiriti o Waitangi in 1840.

The kaupapa has been carefully curated to prompt and sometimes even provoke thought, discussion and disagreement that leads us to question the status quo. Turning up the volume relies on us asking ourselves poignant questions that none of us yet know the answer to, debating perspectives and trusting ourselves.

Please join us for this unique opportunity to turn up the volume on matters of importance.
