Vanessa is currently an Independent Director for Channel Infrastructure, OneFortyOne Holdings Pty, Waste Management Ltd, Te Whatu Ora and a member of the Financial Markets Authority. She chairs various Committees. She was previously Group General Manager of Technical Operations and People at Air New Zealand for almost ten years and a key driver of the cultural transformation at the airline. Vanessa joined Air New Zealand from Carter Holt Harvey Packaging Australia, where she was the Chief Executive.
Prior to heading CHH’s packaging business, Vanessa was the company’s General Manager Performance Improvement and prior to that held change management and legal positions. She is a member of both the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Directors; an honorary fellow of HRINZ, a Companion of IPENZ, and a member of Iron Duke’s Advisory Board, Elizabeth Knox Hospital and Rest Home Board and the Education Scholarship Trust. She was a member of the Better Public Services Advisory Board, and Global Women Board (2013-2019 (Chair 2017-2019)) and was Deputy Chair of the Kings College Board. Prior Board roles also included Heartland Bank Ltd, Warehouse Group Ltd, Alliance Ltd, Paymark Ltd, Tertiary Education Commission and MBIE and DOC’s audit and risk committees and DESC Chair.
