For the organisations of the future to truly excel, their leaders must be more global, more mindful and more dynamic.
- To enable the breakthrough thinking that will empower women to excel at this ‘new leadership’, we strike a balance between:Self-awareness and emotional intelligence to enable effective leadership of people
- Fundamental appreciation of executive leadership capabilities (from influencing dynamically strategic thinking and economic governance)
- Exposure to and experience with the big, future-focused, disruptive conversations that are affecting NZ’s economic and social prosperity (from diversity to technology)
While seeking to enhance leadership agility and resilience, the Breakthrough Leaders Programme is expressly focused on creating exceptional and impactful leaders.
So, while providing a highly supportive environment, the programme also stretches women to rise to the challenges of exceptional leadership.
The Five Waypoints*
A Bespoke Experience
The programme recognises the frenetic pace of change and is designed to maximise time without requiring leaders to leave their work for extended periods. The one-year programme is composed of short, immersive and intensive four by four residential courses. Such concentrated periods of high- quality learning will foster and accelerate agile and lateral thinking. Leaders and facilitators are brought closely together to form a network of shared expertise, providing an environment for customised learning and personalised consultancy.
An Exceptional Peer Group
Only 25to 28 leaders are selected for the programme. Applicants require a minimum of 5 years senior leadership experience, with a significant cant track record in the private/public NFP/NGO sector and in the broader community they serve. By selecting the very best candidates we ensure that all leaders learn from each other, creating a dynamic group open to discuss issues freely.
A Global Perspective
Distinctive elements of NZ Inc are combined with overseas exposure to provide a true global perspective. A final 4-day global module will take place in San Francisco.
A Powerful Network
Leaders will become part of one of the most distinguished and powerful networks in the NZ leadership sector as it expands. The Breakthrough Leaders alumni will provide fertile ground for members to continue learning from each other beyond the programme.
Continued Professional Development Points
Participation in the Breakthrough Leaders Programme is worth 20 out of the 60 points allocated for the Institute of Directors (IoD) Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements. This would cover all the points a member would be encouraged to accumulate in a year.
CPD are a requirement for all Members, Chartered Members and Chartered Fellows to demonstrate their collective commitment to having the requisite skills and knowledge to govern effectively.
Members need to manually log these as third party points, by logging into the IoD website dashboard.
